Advanced Matlab Course (May 2021)

The aim for this 12h course is to cover more advanced topics with Matlab such as:
1) working with very large datasets; 2) optimising code for faster processing; 3) parallelization; 4) advanced visualisations.

This course is the continuation of Matlab Basics (fall 2020).

The registration is needed to make sure that you can receive the link to the course live stream.

2. I'm participating on the following contact sessions:

Sessions start at 12:00 sharp (not 12:15). Please join few minutes before the start. If you need the 1 ECTS credit, you need to take part to all sessions or do exercises for the sessions you cannot attend.

3. Background details.

You can earn 1 ECTS credit with the course equal to 27h of work, of which 11h are to be done outside the contact sessions (small exercises and reflections).

Are you familiar with MATLAB?
Did you take the MATLAB basic course last fall?
Do you need MATLAB for your research?
Do you have an Aalto account?
Do you have a Triton account?
Do you need the credit for this course?

4. Please write down briefly i. What is your field of research? ii. What kind of data/analysis types do you work with? iii. Why do you need MATLAB in your work? iv. What do you expect to learn from this course?

(Example: My field is neuroscience, I work with large brain imaging datasets to do signal processing and statistical inference. I need MATLAB because existing code in our group was written in MATLAB. I also use many MATLAB toolboxes. I expect to learn how to deal with memory issues, loading big data files, efficiently run parallel computations, make beautiful figures).
